PAJ NTAUB CIRCLE
Throughout history, HMoob people have maintained a cultural legacy through their perseverance to survive during difficult and challenging times. An example is the HMoob paj ntaub. No matter where home may be, HMoob womxn have sustained a cultural legacy through clothing.
After the Chinese prohibited their writing system, HMoob womxn were the ones that invented the idea of sewing HMoob phrases onto baby carriers to communicate and preserve their writing system.
Goals of Paj Ntaub Circle:
provide a safe space and a support network for HMoob womxn of all ages
connect them culturally, socially, emotionally, and politically through safe, confidential open dialogue
revive paj ntaub needlework as a tool in which HMoob womxn and girls can reclaim and rebuild their identities
When: Every Tuesdays from 5pm to 7pm
Childcare and materials for paj ntaub will be provided. Writing, photography, videography, craft and other creative art forms are additional tools that will be used to explore HMoob womxn identities. We invite all HMoob womxn to join HMoob Paj Ntaub Circle.
